It’s nice to have zip classes in your standard libraries, and I think the origin of these classes in .NET goes back to the days when Microsoft tried to support Java. After being pwned by Sun on that one, they dropped Java, but they kept the libraries. This nice article drills down and shows you how to use those classes in VB, but the same scoop is equally valid in C# or any of the other .NET languages.
