Euclid Discoveries (finally) Announces Huge Improvement Over MPEG-4

Euclid Discoveries kicked out this press release announcing their object-based compression technology, which they say gives them 460% over H.264. For some types of video, their claims border on the fantastic. For example, in a “talking-head” video with a head-and-shoulders view of a commentator, they claim to reduce a 23MB video file to 1519 bytes.
An impressive claim, and one that has been in the making for quite a few years, with angel investors getting antsy but holding on to their belief in the product.
However, despite the great claims in the press release, Euclid isn’t demoing this yet - they say they need months of testing before they’re ready to show the product.

Euclid will be demoing their product on April 5, to the Boston Globe. Approx. 3 days later an article will be published describing euclid and its demo. No one ever said they have months of testing left, the fact is they will begin showing it to 9 prospective buyers within the next month.

qoute from PR -”in the coming MONTHS, Euclid Discoveries expects to complete TESTS demonstrating its ability to process all vieo types including full-length movies, and at increased compression rates.” Actually I think ED said there are months of testing ahead.

TXAngel, a lot of people accuse me of having it in for Euclid Discoveries, but man, I was quoting directly from the press release. How much more objective can you get?
And the information you are posting - where did it come from? Not the press release, not the web site. It would be great if you would disclose your source, since you have made the info public.

Mark, If you read the article as you showed, the additional testing is only for one aspect of euclid’s 12 completely different applications. I don’t have a problem informing anyone that the information I provided came from Bob Werner on3-27-06.

Mark, did not mean to infer any attitude in my comments, I was simply in a hurry and wanted to respond as quickly as possible. If you recall I commented earlier on you knowledge and appreciated your candor. Still do.

TXAngel, have you found the Euclid Talk Forum yet?
If not, I think your Boston Globe info would be of interest.
