Okay then, I'm tentatively announcing my own similar, inspired-by-the-5k competition called <a href="http://www.krisjohn.net/4400" rel="nofollow">The 4400 bytes Competition</a>. It'll be interesting to see how much interest there is out there... (and to see if the owners of the 4400 TV show decide I'm infringing or just an enthusiastic fan.)

I did some googling which led me to following URLs (nothing much very promising)

http://the-inbetween.com/archives/000299.php
http://www.siggraph.org/5k/2004/
http://www.siggraph.org/5k/2005/
http://www.siggraph.org/5k/2006/
http://www.siggraph.org/s2004/cfp/web/5k.php?pageID=cfp

Search on siggraph.org for 5k returns no links which can be followed
http://www.siggraph.org/search?SearchableText=5k

Official 5k website (www.the5k.org) is gone.

I also came across your old slashdot post on it, in this story...
http://slashdot.org/articles/04/08/11/0016202.shtml?tid=152&tid=137&tid=99&tid=1&tid=218
Unfortunatly, no replies there either.

Seems like they have forgotten about it.

Anyone know what happened to the 5k competition that SIGGRAPH apparently took over?
